This package includes an ultrasound of the heart, carotids, a 12 lead electrocardiogram, lipid profile by fingerstick, an Ankle Branchial Index, ultrasound of abdominal aorta and body composition analysis. This exam will evaluate the carotids for plaques that might cause cerebral vascular accidents or CVA.
The cardiac exam is inclusive for chamber dimensions, valvular heart disease: aortic stenosis, and segmental wall motion abnormalities which could indicate coronary artery disease. Your ejection fraction will be calculated. The 12 lead ECG will show you underlying rhythm to evaluate for atrial fibrillation.
The blood workup includes cholesterol and glucose levels. The ABI may indicate peripheral vascular disease. The body composition analysis points out all those places on our body that need work! The abdominal aorta is visualized to evaluate for abdominal aortic aneurysm.
All of this valuable information will be put into a packet which will include normal values and a DICOM copy of your ultrasound images. This will give you a comprehensive view of your cardiovascular health, which can be shared with your primary care physician if you choose.
