What services does Midwest Cardio-vascular Ultrasound offer?
We provide echocardiograms (adult and pediatric), Carotid Doppler, vascular ultrasounds, EKG/ECG, CIMT, and heart health screenings for individuals, clinics, and hospitals.
Why should I get a Heart Health Screening?
To take proactive control of your health, detect potential issues early before symptoms appear, and make lifestyle changes—tests often require physician orders only after symptoms.
When will I receive my Heart Health Screening results?
Results are reviewed and mailed within 2-3 business days after your screening.
What should I wear for my appointment?
Comfortable clothing; avoid dresses or one-piece outfits for easy access to perform ultrasounds and ECG on the upper body.
Does insurance cover health screenings?
No, we do not file insurance as most plans do not cover preventive screenings—this is self-pay for proactive health.
What should I do after receiving my screening results?
Review them, call us with questions, and discuss with your primary care physician—it’s your healthcare.
What's the difference between an EKG and an Echocardiogram?
EKG records electrical activity and rhythm; Echocardiogram is an ultrasound showing heart structures, valves, chambers, function (including ejection fraction), and more—more comprehensive, 30-60 minutes.
How long does an Echocardiogram take?
Typically 30-60 minutes, involving 60-80 images/cineloops.
Who reads the Echocardiogram results?
A cardiologist interprets the diagnostic study and provides a final report.
What is ejection fraction (EF)?
A measure of how well the heart pumps; normal is 55-60%—a common focus in echocardiograms.
